Reading glasses relegated to the museum case?

Presbyopia affects close to 1 billion people in the world. Being faced with a blur instead of print is very inconvenient, but decreasing quality of vision can be the cause of something more serious. Workers may be at risk wearing protective glasses if they can no longer focus quickly enough even though there are prescription lenses for safety glasses.

As people age, the more likely they are to be reaching for their reading glasses due to failing near sight or presbyopia. But thanks to EU research, contact lenses providing correct vision at all distances could be on the horizon.
