Cypriot sunshine for solar thermal energy research

The NESTER project is twinning the Cyprus Institute and several internationally–leading solar energy research institutions to strengthen solar thermal energy research in Cyprus, Europe and beyond.

As an EU country in a unique geographical position, Cyprus offers excellent opportunities for research and innovation in solar technologies. And the country’s positioning means that any energy produced can also be used in nearby eastern Mediterranean countries and the Middle East. However, Cyprus’ remote location presents a barrier to innovation in the country.

The EU-funded NESTER project aims to overcome this obstacle by twinning the Cyprus Institute (CyI) with internationally-renowned research institutions in other EU countries.
